About

Ben Rhinesmith

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist

I love adventure—and I define it as any experience with an unknown outcome. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as an adventure guide, leading trips around the world that included climbing, canyoneering, kayaking, and hiking. These high-risk, high-reward experiences often created moments of vulnerability where people allowed me into the most meaningful parts of their lives. It was in those raw, human moments that I discovered my true passion: guiding people through the mental and emotional terrain of their lives.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Utah Tech University and my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Utah State University. My training and therapeutic style are rooted in a postmodern philosophy, and I draw from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Systems Theory, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I am also trained in Attachment-Focused EMDR through the Parnell Institute and have completed Level 1 training in the Gottman Method for couples therapy.

I believe we all interpret reality through the lens of our lived experiences. The meanings we create are reflected in the stories we tell ourselves and others—and those stories, in turn, shape our relationships. These relationships can be sources of both constraint and strength. My goal is to provide a sanctuary space that is free of judgment, where clients can safely express the many parts of themselves and explore the narratives that guide their lives.

I work with individuals, couples, and families, from childhood through adulthood, and I am especially passionate about supporting adolescents and young adults. I strive to meet each person with curiosity, creativity, compassion, and a genuine desire for connection. To me, therapy is a collaborative adventure—one that honors your story while helping you access your inherent strengths and move toward healing and growth.

If you’re ready to explore your inner landscape, I’d be honored to walk with you on the journey.
